Background
John began working on residential water installations in 2011 as a site assistant. After two years in the field he completed a BS in Civil Engineering with a focus on hydraulics in 2013, and earned his Texas Professional Engineer (PE) licence in 2016.
Since 2016 he has worked full-time on residential and light-commercial water systems — tank and capacity sizing, rooftop and structural loading, pressure and float-valve issues, overflow and sediment problems, and basic treatment of well water containing iron and manganese. Over that time he has completed more than 180 residential projects.
On Water Calculator, John brings that field-and-engineering experience to the site's most calculation-heavy tools, where the difference between a rough approximation and the correct governing equation actually changes the answer.
